When your cell phone rings, naturally you answer it. When you’re behind the wheel, a whole new dynamic is created by that ringing phone … one that involves your safety and the safety of others around you. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reports that more than 80% of collisions involve some type of distracted driving. Although many states now require that drivers use hands-free devices, using a cell phone while driving is distracting. Period.
For drivers who can’t resist answering their cell phone, we have created proTextor, software that blocks incoming and outgoing text messages and phone calls while your vehicle is in motion. proTextor helps you keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
proTextor is available for Windows Mobile 6 and up. Phone must have GPS.
iPhone, Android, Motorola, Palm and BlackBerry versions coming soon!
What is proTextor?proTextor is software for a cell phone that blocks incoming and outgoing text messages and phone calls while driving over a preset speed. GPS enabled software is engaged when the vehicle begins moving, blocking incoming and outgoing calls and texts.
How does it work? The first step is downloading proTextor to your phone. Next, an administrator customizes the settings, such as the speed at which you want the software to engage and an automated response to incoming calls and texts.
Once the settings are saved, proTextor does the rest! proTextor detects when the phone is in motion, automatically sending phone calls to voice mail and logging all incoming and outgoing text messages. Access your missed calls and texts once you arrive at your destination! The intention of proTextor is to prevent cell phone use while the car is in motion.
What about passengers? proTextor can be disabled by an administrator when you are the passenger in a vehicle. This is a feature that requires trust between the user and the administrator. The administrator can send a text to the user’s phone, temporarily disabling proTextor. proTextor will engage immediately after the text from the administrator has been sent.

proTextor was conceived in the Winter of 2008 when John Tsinonis left the funeral of a friend’s 17 year old son, who was killed in a driving accident. Apparently the teen was texting while driving. John and his wife, Joana, knew that something had to be done to prevent more senseless deaths. Fortunately, John was a software developer with the skills to create software to help drivers stay focused.
